Huntsman has an immediate opening for an Analytical Chemist with a dynamic, growing industry leader in chemical production at our Freeport, Texas facility. Key Accountabilities but not limited to: Directs the activities of the plant laboratory and field analyzers to ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally sound manner, as dictated by plant policy and procedures and by regulatory requirements. Ensure laboratory and analyzer technicians are trained and competent to perform assigned analytical methods. o Provide instrument troubleshooting and repair support for laboratory and field analyzers. Develop, implement, and maintain analyzer PM and repair procedures and program. Provide support and analytical expertise to customers and the manufacturing site as needed to resolve problems with analytical methods, quality and production issues. Develop, modify, and troubleshoot analytical methods as required. Monitor and assist laboratory and field analyzers instrument calibration. Perform non-routine analytical analysis. Directs the use of SPC/SQC techniques, practices, and methods of laboratory and field analyzer personnel. Perform support for laboratory software configuration and backup. Education Requirements and Work Experience: Bachelors Degree in Chemistry required. Masters Degree in Chemistry preferred. Minimum of 5 years relevant chemical plant experience. Previous experience working with an ISO 9001 quality system preferred. Previous experience with on-stream field analyzers required. Special Requirements and Qualifications: Exceptional computer skills (including familiarity with instrument interfacing, database maintenance, LIMS, and programming). Solid background in general quantitative/analytical methodology. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Flexibility and adaptability to new instructions and/or dynamic organizational priorities is critical for job success. Participate in and complete company-required training programs. Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Must have an understanding of safety and environmental requirements.
